Sedans are the baseline we price everything else against. Two rows, a separate trunk, a manageable roof height, and a cabin small enough to detail thoroughly in a few hours. A Camry, an Accord, a 3 Series, a Civic — these are the vehicles most of our appointments are on.

The trade-off with a smaller car is that everything is tighter. There is less room to get a wand or a hand tool behind the front seats, the rear footwells are cramped, and the space between the seat and the center console is narrower than a hand. Those tight spots are where a rushed detail shows, and they are where a lot of the actual soil is.

Where sedan interiors need the most attention

The rear footwells, because they are small and rarely cleaned. The gap beside the center console, which swallows coins, receipts and food. The seat rails, which collect sand in a South Shore vehicle. The trunk hinge channels, where water and grit collect. And the rear parcel shelf under the back window, which sits in direct sun and fades and dusts more than anything else in the car.

We work those with hand tools and compressed air rather than running a vacuum over them, because the vacuum alone does not reach.

Exterior notes on a lower vehicle

Sedans sit low, so the rocker panels and lower doors take the heaviest road spray, tar and winter salt. Those are the panels that show pitting and paint failure first on a ten-year-old Long Island car, and they are where we spend the decontamination time.

Roof and hood take the most UV, which on red and black paint means oxidation shows there first. Those panels usually benefit most from a polish.

What it costs and how long

A full interior and exterior detail on a sedan runs four to six hours. An express maintenance detail is around ninety minutes. Both are mobile across the Five Towns.

Pricing is by condition rather than by badge. A well-kept three-year-old sedan and a neglected eight-year-old one are different jobs even if they are the same model, so we quote from photos or from seeing the car rather than reading a number off a menu.

Car Detailing Questions

How much does it cost to detail a sedan?
It depends on condition more than on the model. A well-maintained car and a neglected one of the same make are different amounts of work. Send photos or let us see the vehicle and you get a flat price before anything starts.
How long does a sedan detail take?
Four to six hours for a full interior and exterior detail, around ninety minutes for an express maintenance detail. Both can be done at your home or office.
Do you clean the trunk on a sedan?
Yes, including the hinge channels and the spare tire well. Sedan trunks are enclosed and rarely cleaned, so they are frequently the source of an odor nobody can locate.
Is a small car cheaper to detail than an SUV?
Generally yes, since there is less surface area and no third row. But tight rear footwells and console gaps take real time, so the gap is smaller than people expect.
